Body and Udder: Three year old, second freshener. I've long admired 'Posie's' dam, and when I saw a daughter was available I knew I had to have her! Posie is a slightly different body type than the rest of my girls, and should cross well with my more refined animals. Posie's strengths lie in her body capacity, width across the chest floor, upright pasterns, length from hips to pins, and width from thurl to thurl. While her toes point straight ahead, they could be tighter. I would like her to have flatter bone, and better dairy character. Her mammary system is very nice, with a high, large area of rear attachment, strong lateral attachments, and excellent capacity. I would like to see a more defined MSL and softer texture. And she is a milk cow! As a first freshener (who had a single kid) Posie has consistently been putting around 4lbs in the pail. At a One-Day Test at a HOT show, Posie milked 3.9lbs, earning her milking star! Pictured as a first freshening, two year old. This black with white doe is as a long as a train, with wonderful levelness over her topline, wide thurls in relation to her overall capacity, and great general appearance. She also sports nice brisket definition and lovely rear angulation. As a yearling she did lack spring of rib and her hands-on dairy character was poor, however those areas have dramatically improved now that she has freshened. Cassi's biggest fault is her front legs, which turn out pretty severely and she does have a raised dorsal process. Her first freshening udder is a dream come true - a high, wide rear, some of the best lateral attachments in my herd, impressive capacity for a FF, and a shelf-less foreudder with only a very slight pocket. Her MSL is decent, and I think it will improve with further freshenings. I do wish for better placed teats, and they could be slightly larger, but her soft, pliable udder texture makes milking her a breeze. Personality wise, she's a very affectionate doe who loves her neck scratches, and is a fantastic mother. Cassi has taken to being milked quite well - she has developed a great work ethic, and stands perfectly when on the stanchion. Sold to Trilogy Ranch. Eldora has good depth of body, tight shoulders and withers, nice top line, straight front legs, loose dairy skin and a W-I-D-E escutcheon. We would like to see better angulation in her. Dora has a stunning first freshening udder! She has spot-on teat placement, a nice MSL, nice front attachments and great side attachments! She does lack in height of rear udder attachment, but another freshening could fix that. Eldora kidded on 02-26-07 with a single buckling sired by Algedi Farm Drops Of Jupiter. Buckling (Desperado) will be retained. Due to kidding complications on both freshenings, Dora is now enjoying an early retirement as our spoiled pet.
